Erasmus is a sub programme of the European Union Lifelong Learning Programme that supports increased mobility in higher education, particularly among students, but also among teachers and other staff.

Aims

  • Support the creation of a European Higher Education Area.
  • Enhancing the contribution of higher education and advanced vocational education in the innovation process at European level.
  • To offer to students the exposure to other countries and cultures not only enriches their study experience but also promotes a more European-minded, flexible and mobile workforce that improves Europe’s competitiveness and innovation potential.

The Erasmus Programme is mainly directed at higher education students, and has several actions namely:

Mobility for Students
Student mobility Studies (SMS)
Student mobility Placements (SMP)

Mobility for Staff Teaching Assignment (STA)
Teaching staff of a National Higher Education Institution (HEI) - teach at a foreign HEI
Staff of a foreign company, invited by a National HEI - teach at a National HEI

Mobility for Staff Training (STT)
Teaching staff and non-teaching staff of a National Higher Education Institution (HEI) - for training in a foreign HEI;
Teaching staff and non-teaching staff of a National HEI - for training in a foreign company
