The Rectorate of the University of Lisbon (UL), has currently two Units working in the International Relations area:
- The Unit of International Relations / Department of Strategy and External Relations, which is responsible for developing cooperation with foreign universities, promoting participation in cooperation programs, organizing and participating in international events and concluding cooperation agreements with international institutions, among other institutional functions.
- The Unit of International Academic Programmes / Academic Department – Students Division, which is the unit responsible for international mobility and exchange programmes, managing and supervising the existing exchange programmes, contacting the exchange partner universities, concluding Bilateral Agreements within the mobility programmes (e.g. Erasmus) and supporting the mobility of students, teachers and staff, in articulation with the different International Mobility Offices at Faculties’ level.

Each Faculty / Institute has its’ own International / Mobility Office that also aims to contribute to the internationalization of UL, supporting locally all the international activities, establishing Bilateral Agreements within the mobility programmes (e.g. Erasmus) and especially assisting incoming and outgoing students, teachers and staff.
