To contribute to the advanced training of PhD scholarships and post doctoral scientists and young researchers inserted in universities and research institutions from all countries of the "Comunidade dos Países de Língua Portuguesa" (CPLP - Community of Portuguese Language Countries).

PhD Scholarships - Graduates are nationals of countries of CPLP, preferably integrated into institutions of higher education or research in these countries, which express the desire to return to their countries on completion of the doctorate awarded by a Portuguese university.

Post Doctoral Fellowships - PhDs are nationals of countries of the CPLP, with curriculum recognized high scientific merit, scientific institutions or integrated into institutions of higher education in those countries wishing to conduct research in scientific institutions or universities in Portugal.

The evaluation of applications is ensured by the Foundation for Science and Technology through the creation of an independent evaluation panel.
